What is Categories?
Name as many things as you can that fit a given category. Easy, right? Until you’re 7 items deep into “Things Found in a Bathroom” and someone yells, “A rubber ducky isn’t real!”
Each round is a mix of speed, creativity, and passionate debates.
Bonus chaos when others dislike your answers and you have to defend why “pizza” is totally a breakfast food. The perfect mix of fun and friendly fire.
How to Play
Here’s how you can play Categories step by step. This setup works well for remote, hybrid, or in-person teams:
- Announce a category (e.g., animals, brands, desserts).
- Each player types/speaks as many items in that category as they can in 30 seconds.
- After the timer, review all entries.
- Duplicate entries count once; incorrect ones can be challenged.
- Score is based on unique valid entries.
- Repeat with new categories.
How to Win
Winning typically depends on teamwork, strategy, or clever thinking — depending on the nature of the game. Make sure players are aligned on what counts as “winning” before the game begins, whether it's points, guesses, or being the last one standing.
