What is Game of Lies?

A mysterious image flashes on the screen. One player describes what they see.

Are they telling the truth, or spinning a yarn worthy of an Oscar? That’s for the rest of the team to figure out.

This game tests your lying skills and your ability to call out nonsense. “So you’re saying this picture of a cat riding a unicycle is... a tropical sunset?” Nice try.

Suspicion, laughter, and dramatic standoffs make this a fan favorite. Sherlock Holmes would thrive. Or get eliminated.

How to Play

Here’s how you can play Game of Lies step by step. This setup works well for remote, hybrid, or in-person teams:

  • Show an image (abstract, funny, or complex) to one player.
  • That player must either describe it truthfully or lie convincingly.
  • Team asks follow-up questions to catch inconsistencies.
  • After discussion, the team votes: truth or lie?
  • Points for guessing correctly or fooling the team.
  • Rotate roles each round.

How to Win

Winning typically depends on teamwork, strategy, or clever thinking — depending on the nature of the game. Make sure players are aligned on what counts as “winning” before the game begins, whether it's points, guesses, or being the last one standing.
