What is Reverse Semantle?

The answer is coming… closer… closer… BOOM! Every few seconds, you’re shown a word that’s semantically closer to the secret target word.

It’s like hot-and-cold meets a mental sprint. The faster you guess, the more points you earn. But don’t shout too early and guess “potato” when the word was clearly “spaceship.”

A brain-teasing, time-sensitive race that brings out everyone’s inner thesaurus… or chaos gremlin.

How to Play

Here’s how you can play Reverse Semantle step by step. This setup works well for remote, hybrid, or in-person teams:

• Select a secret word in advance.
• Reveal one related word at a time (increasing in closeness).
• Players submit guesses after each hint.
• Earlier correct guesses earn more points.
• Continue until the word is guessed or all hints are used.
• Rotate secret word holder or play solo competitively.

How to Win

Winning typically depends on teamwork, strategy, or clever thinking — depending on the nature of the game. Make sure players are aligned on what counts as “winning” before the game begins, whether it's points, guesses, or being the last one standing.
